IBUg Festival (Germany) 2015 Review

IBUg 2015 – Standout art inspires in the city of the lace

At the 30th of August IBUg´s 10th edition came to an end. Until the evening more than 6000 people visited the festival for urban art and culture in Plauen, Germany. About 60 artists from 11 countries, including creative folks from Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Belarus, Ukraine, Mexico and Austria had transformed an old coffee roastery in Saxony into a total artwork within a week long creative phase. Massive murals, detailed paintings, graffiti and installations breathed life into the old building. The public could visit the area for three days and was  delighted with the unique artworks, their diversity and quality. Besides that various talks, guided tours, movies, discussions and the traditional IBUg-partys completed the colorful program.

Project manager Thomas Dietze  is satisfied with this years IBUg: „As always an exiting time with the artists and an intense festival weekend lies behind us. All the more we are happy about the positive feedback of our visitors.“ Besides many locals a lot of art fans from all over the world and of all ages found their way to Plauen.“This project woudn´t have been possible without the support of sponsors, the city, local companies, craftsmen and our ambitious team of volunteers“, Dietze said. „Special thanks to them.“

The IBUg was started in 2006 by the artist Jens „TASSO“ Müller of the famous Maclaim Crew as a small graffiti meeting in his hometown Meerane. Since then it developed to an internationally known festival which attracts artists from all over the world and thousands of visitors each year. The project´s aim is to proof, that urban art can also happen and be successful beyond the big metropolises. How the IBUg goes on and where it takes place next year is up in the air right now. But according to the organizers it stays in West-Saxony.
