Graffiti ‘Shutters’ Exhibition at Camden Open Air Gallery
November 20, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - January 16, 2022 @ 7:00 pm GMT

Shutters Graffiti Group Show in Camden
It’s billed as the world’s first indoor graffiti shutter exhibition, and if we’re being honest, we cant recall any other exhibitions of this kind in London. It includes works by 25 of London’s most well-known graffiti artists. Curated by COAG and Camdemonium, this exhibition features a huge and significant display of 25 tags on reconditioned shutters that outline each graffiti writer’s individual style.
Some of the artists in this exhibition are the pioneers of the 1980s UK graffiti scene. The pedigree of this line up was among the most influential in the creation of the metropolitan style seen across London (which emphasised getting up quickly and using bright rounded colours), with PiC, Fuel, Doze & Prime, all members of WRH (We Rock Hard), partners with King Robbo who had an infamous battle with Banksy, through to current kings of London graffiti such as 10 Foot, who can be seen on railway bridges and buildings across the world.

The goal of the show is to raise awareness of graffiti as an art form, support the culture, and educate people about an art form that has grown into a really global community. The show examines how spray-paint strokes and graffiti techniques convey the art form to the public in a diverse and accessible manner. The exhibition follows the history of spray paint from its beginnings to the present day.
