Parees Fest Celebrates Five Years
With thirty large-format pieces by local, national, and international artists, the Municipal Foundation of Culture’s fifth edition of the contextual muralism festival Parees Fest, which took place between September 13 and 19, brought a five-year era of mural interventions to a close. Alba Fabre, Emily Eldridge, Foni Ardao, and Luogo Comune created the murals this year.
Parees Fest has succeeded in integrating community, groups, and professionals in the collaborative construction of murals that pay homage to Asturian characters, traditions, and events, in a unique blend of art and history, over the course of the last five years. Walls that aren’t just walls, but also memories and people, may be found in almost all of Oviedo’s neighbourhoods, as well as areas like Olloniego, Trubia, and Tudela Vegun. They were able to repurpose certain events this year, as well as proudly honour the fifth anniversary.
